the stars are so pretty but you never saw them
the lights of the city below caught your eye
you sat on a lookout aside of the hillside

then there were fireworks i never saw them
your braceleted arms were touching mine
so i laid in your lap aside of the hillside
and all i could think of was the time
but you and i could ignore the time
under the sky with all of our friends
all alone all together

to care about the time
our friend's mom drove all of us home in the evening
and she had the radio on in the car
they said you could call so we called them 500 times
the radio station still knows who we are
but they never picked up so we never quit calling
even when we all got back to your house
so you let us inside to stay until morning
but i don't remember spending the night
you and i could ignore the time
even with the radio on in your room
that tells you the time that you called them
you and i never had the time
to not ignore the time
